FREE TOUR Munich Christmas Markets

During the Advent season, Munich is filled with lights and colour. Mulled wine can be smelled in every square and corner. The festive atmosphere at the various Christmas markets is magical.

As every year, the Christmas tree is placed in Marienplatz, the heart of the city of Munich, to attract all the attention of those present and is, without a doubt, the star of the place. All the Christmas markets are full of handmade decorations and an endless number of curious objects related to the Christmas season.

Chocolate and sweets, such as the famous “Lebkuchen”, are a must at these markets.

We will start the tour at Odeonsplatz and from there we will head to the first Christmas market on our route. We will explore seven Christmas markets discovering the different stalls selling food, crafts, decorations… as well as enjoying the intoxicating aroma of different drinks and sweets. Throughout the tour we will discuss the different traditions and legends that revolve around German Christmas. Of course we will talk about Nikolaus and his antagonist, the famous Alpine demon Krampus. Our route will end after 2:30h in the surroundings of Sendlinger Tor.
