The German Promenade (UNESCO)
Tour description
Wroclaw was once the beating heart of Central Europe. A major and modern city, it reached its heydey during the German period (1741-1945), which saw it transformed from a medieval trade city into an expression of the global influence and ambition of the German Empire.
This city was then known as Breslau.
Our tour takes a less conventional route than what most other tours offer. Rather than staying in the "historic" center, we will leave the shelter of the medieval moat and experience what this German metropolis once looked like. Breslau was at one point, the largest German city east of Berlin. Over the course of the 19th century, the city underwent scientific, artistic, and industrial revolution, testified to by the palatial edifices erected around the former walls.
This is the only free tour that will take you to the German 1913 Exhibition Grounds, where we can see the Centennial Hall, the world's largest dome when it was built and Wroclaw's only UNESCO World Heritage Listing.
