Hello! My name is Martin, and I am looking forward to taking you on a tour of my city. I am a native speaker of English with local Wrocław knowledge. As on March 13th, 2026, I am an licenced tour guide in Wrocław. After completing my bachelor's degree at Wroclaw University, I decided to start my professional career as a tour guide. I was raised in the United States, but my parents are Polish-Lithuanian. I speak English, Polish, Spanish, French and Italian. I fell in love with Wroclaw and subsequently learned all there is to know about it. My interests are art, history and architecture, and there is nothing more that I love doing than sharing with others my interest. I am almost certain that after we walk together you will see Wroclaw, and maybe the world, a little differently. I run two tours; the traditional Old Town route, but also my designer route, known as the German Promenade. Tourists coming to Wroclaw end up skipping our only UNESCO site! I am here to change this. Both tours pair nicely together, and allow visitors to truly grasp what Wroclaw is about and what is has to offer. I hope to see you on my tour!

Tour description

Wroclaw was once the beating heart of Central Europe. A major and modern city, it reached its heydey during the German period (1741-1945), which saw it transformed from a medieval trade city into an expression of the global influence and ambition of the German Empire.

This city was then known as Breslau.

Our tour takes a less conventional route than what most other tours offer. Rather than staying in the "historic" center, we will leave the shelter of the medieval moat and experience what this German metropolis once looked like. Breslau was at one point, the largest German city east of Berlin. Over the course of the 19th century, the city underwent scientific, artistic, and industrial revolution, testified to by the palatial edifices erected around the former walls.

This is the only free tour that will take you to the German 1913 Exhibition Grounds, where we can see the Centennial Hall, the world's largest dome when it was built and Wroclaw's only UNESCO World Heritage Listing.

START: Plac Biskup Nankiera (Bishop Nankiera Plaza)

  • The Silesian Piast Mausoleum
  • "The History Trail"
  • Oldest house in Wroclaw
  • Hala Targowa
  • Medieval walls of Wroclaw
  • "Bricklayer's" Bastion
  • City moat
  • National Museum
  • Voivodeship Office
  • Grunwald or "Kaiser's" Bridge
  • Pre-war German beer advertisement
  • German Maternity Ward
  • German Imperial Technical University
  • Norwida Street or "Hansastrasse"
  • Neo-gothic German Hospital
  • Zwierzyniecki or "Pass" Bridge
  • Zoo

END: Centennial Hall or "Jarhundredthalle"

The length of the walk is 3-3.5 km, and it will take 2-2.5 hours, depending on our walking speed.

I speak Polish, French, Spanish, and Italian. I am happy to accommodate those without strong English.

There will be many surprises and secrets along the way!
I look forward to meeting you soon!
