This is not an easy tour—it’s an active and adventurous one—but it’s definitely worth it. Along the way, you’ll discover many fascinating places, stories, and hidden gems that you might otherwise miss.
### Meeting Point
**Directly in front of the entrance to the Old Synagogue.**
Please **do not follow the Google Maps location**. We will meet directly in front of the entrance to the Old Synagogue.
If it rains, don't worry — we can gather inside.
And don't forget your umbrella!
### IMPORTANT
The tour aims to show you as much as possible, so please allow **3 hours** for the experience.
During the tour, you will discover:
* The history of Kazimierz, starting with the origins of **Bawół (Bawol) Village** — a walk showing the former village and the expansion of **Oppidum Judaeorum (the Jewish Quarter)** and finally Szeroka Street.
* A study room for Torah and Talmud.
* The **High Synagogue**.
* **Remuh Synagogue**.
* Images and stories of old Jewish businesses.
* The **Great Mikveh** and a famous restaurant that was a favourite of Steven Spielberg and other famous people.
* **Popper Synagogue**.
* The houses associated with **Helena Rubinstein**.
* **Ariel** and an introduction to *Schindler's List*.
* **Hotel Eden**, the current mikveh, and **Ciemna Street**, one of the major filming locations for Steven Spielberg's masterpiece *Schindler's List*.
* The **Jewish Cemetery** and the grave of **Rabbi Remuh**.
* **Kupa Synagogue**.
* The **Jewish Community Centre**.
* **Temple Synagogue**.
* **Okrąglak**, famous for its zapiekanki.
* **13 Józefa Street**, where Helena Rubinstein had her first work experience.
* **Schindler's Passage**.
* **Plac Wolnica** and the history of Jewish settlement on Polish land, the former town, and the first established church.
* The place where the king was supposed to open the first academy.
* Examples of the materials used to build buildings centuries ago.
### Then we continue to the Ghetto in Podgórze
We will discover:
* The **heart of Podgórze**.
* The **main gate of the Kraków Ghetto**.
* The **Judenrat office**.
* The former **Juliusz Madritsch factory**.
* The former house of **Roman Polanski**.
* **Zucker's Synagogue**.
* The story of **Juliusz Aleksandrowicz**, a doctor, and the hospital for chronically ill patients.
* **Execution sites in Ghetto A**.
* **Józefińska Street**, the main street of the ghetto.
* **Targowa 2**, the former glass factory.
* The **Pharmacy Under the Eagle**, run by **Tadeusz Pankiewicz**.
* **Execution sites in Ghetto B**.
* **Ghetto Heroes Square**.
* The **walls of the ghetto**.
### THIS TOUR IS NOT AN EASY TOUR, BUT IT IS FASCINATING!
It is a long and intensive walk, but it offers a fascinating opportunity to discover the history of Kazimierz and the Kraków Ghetto through places, stories, and locations connected with the people who lived there.
PLUS: I will also give you lots of restaurant recommendations, and there will be some free time to purchase souvenirs along the way.
Important Information
Please be respectful and avoid cancelling your tour at the last minute without an apology and a full explanation. I will be waiting for you and looking forward to welcoming you to my local area.
Please **eat and drink before the tour**. We will have a stop for the toilet and drinks during the tour, but we will **not stop for food**, so please come prepared.
This is a **free walking tour**, which means there is no fixed price. “Free” means **you have a choice** about how much you would like to tip at the end of the tour.
Here in Krakow, **€15 per person is considered a minimum tip**. As a general guideline, GuruWalk suggests **€15–€50 per person**. Please keep this recommendation in mind, as your contribution shows appreciation and respect for the tour and the work involved in providing it.
And finally, **animals are very welcome!**

Hi everyone! My name is Kasia — it’s so nice to meet you, and welcome to the tour.
Before we begin, I’d love to say a few words about myself.
I’m originally from Poland, born and raised here in Kraków. I spent several years living in London, where I worked mainly in tourism-related fields — gastronomy, hospitality, and even in a museum.
I graduated from Middlesex University in London with a degree in International Tourism Management.
While studying, I discovered the idea of free walking tours, and I absolutely loved it. Even back then, I dreamed of becoming a tour guide. My tutors and friends often told me I had a natural way with people and a real passion for sharing stories. Still, I decided to first build my professional experience in the hotel industry.
Tourism and connecting with travelers have always been very close to my heart. That’s one of the reasons I spent so much time abroad — to learn languages, experience different cultures, and meet people from all over the world. I also love travelling myself.
At one point, I lived in Spain, near Barcelona, in a town called Sant Cugat del Vallès, where I worked in the automotive industry for about seven months.
When I moved back to Poland — I truly amazed by how much the country has changed and how quickly it’s developing. I started reading more, exploring my surroundings, and attending history classes.
Kazimierz has always been a very special place for me, and during the tour, you’ll understand why.
Before we start, just a quick note about the tour format.
This is a free-choice tip tour, which means you decide the value of the experience at the end. Free tours don't have a fixed price. At the end, each person contributes to the guide the amount they consider fair based on their satisfaction. As a guideline, Guruwalk recommends between €15 and $50 per participant.
