Geordie Genius - Highlights of Newcastle
Tour description
We meet at Grey's Monument, the centre of this great city and right above Monument Metro station. Here we talk about the monument and Graingertown and Grey Street, often described as the finest street in the country.
Then it's into the Central Exchange Building to view the interior and onto the Grainger Market, described as the 'beating heart of Newcastle'.
We then stop outside the Theatre Royal, one of only nine Grade I listed theatres in the country.
From here it's back in time to view the medieval heart of the city on High Bridge and into the Old George Yard.
Then it's into the famous Bigg Market, and down to Newcastle Cathedral with its magnificent Lantern Tower before visiting the Black Gate and Newcastle Castle.
It's all downhill from here via the Castle Steps to the Guildhall, Bessie Surtee's House and the Quayside where we talk about the famous bridges which dominate the River before finishing the tour.
Come meet Newcastle!
