Shenzhen Shekou Bite-Sized Adventure: 2-Hour Global Food Crawl
The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English
Description
Shekou, Shenzhen, the birthplace of China's reform and opening-up, is not only the starting point of the nation's economic takeoff but also a hub for Shenzhen's time-honored food brands.
• Scoop a spoonful and let the sunshine drizzle into a crystal-clear bowl! This century-old shop's "desserts" feature authentic Cantonese sweets, with flavors as rich as liquid gold. Tip: Their turtle jelly is a favorite among the elderly. • Shenzhen Juice Lab champions "wellness"! Sip this vibrant green drink and feel the bursting pearls dance on your tongue. Perfect for recharging before enjoying the stunning cruise ship views. • Ready to dive into Shekou's soulful hot pot? This 20-year-old shop has mastered braised beef tripe! Secretly simmered beef offal paired with spicy curry fish balls—create your own street food legend!
Let's embark on a two-hour "Shekou stroll" for an international food carnival. The local snacks on this itinerary are from small street vendors in residential areas, not chain stores in large shopping malls. If you are sensitive to street food or dislike the bustling market atmosphere, please consider carefully before signing up. I wouldn’t want your experience to be compromised due to a mismatch in preferences. Food tasting costs are self-covered.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wish I could give her 1,000 stars!
My daughter and I had the BEST experience on this tour. Our guide was beautiful, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She was punctual, gave us rich history, chose amazing foods (the dumplings were delicious!), and even offered to pay when our WeChat wasn’t working.
She went above and beyond — she walked us to our taxi afterward, checked our DiDi app, and made sure we were headed to the right place and got home safely. It felt like exploring Shenzhen with a friend, not a stranger.
So refreshing to have an English-speaking guide who helped us understand the city and even gave us tips on places to visit later. We exchanged information, and I truly feel like I’ve gained a friend I’ll come back to see again.
My forever guide 😊 Highly recommend!

The guide told me about the features of Shekou district, the construction of houses, and the life of local people. I also tried different types of dishes, such as meatballs, zongzi, and a delicious dessert with fruit and coconut milk. After that, we took the subway to a nearby station, and the guide also shared information about the history of Shenzhen and this area. Thank you for your time.
The trip was great! Cool schedule, amazing food, and I learned heaps about Shenzhen's past and its food scene. The guru had these fun games that made learning the history and picking up some Chinese way easier. She used Guangdong's unique dishes to tell us all about traditional Chinese medicine – super interesting!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about humanities and history. She explained the history and culture of Guangdong to us, detailing the local customs, lifestyle habits, and historical background and reasons behind the unique dietary habits of the people in Guangdong. She also talked about the ingredients and production processes of the delicious dishes, giving each dish a soul and meaning. We tasted the unique and delicious Cantonese cuisine and heard historical stories about Guangdong and Shenzhen. The guide also took us to the local market, where we got to know various ingredients and seasonings. We even visited the Sea World, which is a fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, and it's very beautiful. The guide showed us what this place looked like twenty years ago, and it was really stunning! The guide shared with us the daily lives of the locals: work, healthcare, education, housing, income, etc., allowing us to gain a more direct understanding of the real life of Chinese people. Today has truly been a wonderful journey, and I suggest you don't miss this experience when coming to Shenzhen.
