Tour description

I'm Yunyun, your Xi'an Tea Detective!

Ever wondered why Chinese people have been obsessing over tea for 5,000 years?
Or how a simple leaf became the world's most traded commodity after water?
And what's the deal with all those fancy tea ceremonies – is it really just about hot water and leaves?
Isn't it hard to believe that Chinese people still drink hot tea even in the sweltering summer?
Do you want to know about the health-preserving effects of different types of tea?

Why does expensive tea taste bitter when I brew it myself? What's the correct way to make chinese tea?

Do you know the secret behind why Chinese tea masters can tell your personality just by watching you drink?
Or how tea became the ultimate social connector across cultures? And seriously, what's with all those different brewing methods – are they just showing off or is there actual science behind it?

Ready to discover why tea isn't just a beverage – but a 5,000-year-old secret to understanding Chinese culture?

Let's dive in! 😄💗🎉

📜 Explore Tea Culture History

Journey through 5,000 years of Chinese tea culture development, listen to legendary Silk Road tea stories, and feel the deep cultural essence of Chinese tea. In Xi'an's Cao Family Courtyard, a nearly century-old cultural mansion, experience the weight and inheritance of traditional culture.

🍃 Master Classic Tea Brewing Techniques

Choose your preferred tea type based on personal taste and practice the exclusive brewing methods for different teas: featuring Shaanxi Fu Tea with its thousand-year Silk Road heritage, plus refreshing green teas (Ziwu Xianhao, Ziyang Maojian), rich oolong teas (Duck Shit Fragrance, Rock Tea), mellow red teas (Yunnan Ancient Tree Black Tea), smooth white teas (Fuding Aged White Tea), and aromatic flower teas (Jasmine Tea).

Brewing Methods: Gaiwan brewing, Steeping and Simmering, Glass Cup Brewing, Purple Clay Teapot Brewing, etc.

🧘 Tea Ceremony & Zen Culture

Tea ceremony carries profound Zen cultural essence. We'll explain tea's wellness benefits – different teas' health properties: Fu Tea's thirst-quenching, green tea's detoxifying, black tea's warming, oolong's fat-reducing, white tea's calming effects.

During tea tasting, experience "Tea and Zen as One" through the four realms: "tranquility, elegance, harmony, truth." Every tea session becomes an inner dialogue, helping you discover Zen mindfulness and inner peace in tea's fragrance.

🏛️ Cao Family Courtyard Cultural Visit

Our tea experience specially partners with Mr. Cao Zhongqian's former residence on Chang'an Study Lane. As the second director of Shaanxi History Museum and renowned epigraphy collector, his residence still retains rich cultural heritage.

Huanxi Jingchen Tea House Gathering

The activity is specially arranged at "Huanxi Jingchen" Tea House, established by Ms. Cui Yiyi, the fourth-generation descendant of Mr. Cao Zhongqian. This space not only carries the Cao family's deep cultural traditions but also represents the perfect fusion of modern and traditional culture, embodying Chinese tea's unique value as a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures.
