Zagreb Green Horseshoe - Lower Town
Tour description
This is unique and the most completed walking tour of Zagreb historical part called Lower Town.
Let’s walk together through the complex of parks and squares called “Green horseshoe” to see the best examples of Art Nouveau and Art Déco styles in Zagreb. Discover how the life of Zagreb citizens was in the period from the mid of 19th century until WWII time. Find out where is a small fountain named "A boy who pees" (Zagreb's Manneken Pis or Petit Julien :-)
The tour is perfect for all visitors who like architecture/art.
It is also an excellent choice for those who either already have taken my 'Zagreb beyond the guidebooks - Upper Town' tour or any other Zagreb Upper Town tour but want to see what else Zagreb offers.
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, European and American urban culture gave birth to two stylistic expressions – Art Nouveau and Art Déco.
Art nouveau is recognized by its wavy, natural lines that imitate a flower at the moment of blooming, while Art déco brings cooler symmetry, glamor and strictness of geometric shapes.
This tour is easy to walk, since there is no stairs like in Upper Town.
