A Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to DUMBO
We will meet on Chambers Street in front of the Surrogate's Court Building which houses the New York City Municipal Archives and has been used as a filming location for movies and TV shows. We will pass the Tweed Courthouse and the Manhattan Municipal Building before heading across the Brooklyn Bridge, discussing the history of the bridge from planning to the present. The Brooklyn Bridge is nothing short of an engineering miracle, the longest suspension bridge in the world when completed after fourteen years of construction, a time when thousands were involved in the building and many lost their lives in the process. The walk will be at a slow pace with plenty of time factored into the tour for photography. Once on the Brooklyn side we will take a short walk in DUMBO and I will give you recommendations for the rest of your day, including lunch options.
