Budapest in the Shadow of Communism
We are Zsóka, Leti, and Flora, three enthusiastic tour guides offering free walking tours for those who want to discover Budapest from a new perspective. With university backgrounds in history and art history, we are passionate about culture, architecture, and storytelling—especially the city’s recent past.
On our Communist Tour, we explore the story of communism in Hungary, from the post–World War II period to the fall of the Iron Curtain. As we walk through Budapest, we reveal how ideology shaped everyday life, architecture, monuments, and public spaces, sharing powerful and often surprising stories along the way.
Through buildings, statues, and hidden details of the city, we bring this era to life, highlighting propaganda, resistance, fear, and hope. Join us for a friendly and relaxed walk as we uncover the stories behind Budapest’s communist past and how it still influences the city today.

Tours since 2025We’re three enthusiastic Budapest tour guides offering fun and friendly tours in English, German, and Italian.
We love showing both the famous attractions and our favorite hidden local spots.
Two of us studied art history, so we love highlighting the city’s architecture, public artworks, and the stories behind them. Our third team member has a degree in history, bringing the city’s past to life with engaging and often surprising anecdotes.
Our goal is to help visitors not only see the city, but truly understand and feel its atmosphere, all within a friendly and relaxed tour experience as we explore the most beautiful spots together.
My name is Zsóka. I studied art history and travelled a lot in Germany and Italy, and then I realized that I didn’t even know my own city that well. This motivated me to become a tour guide. Day by day, the beauty and uniqueness of Budapest opened up to me, and I don’t want to keep it to myself — I want to share it with curious and open-minded people.
My name is Leti, and I’ll be your guide. I studied Art History at university, while I’ve always been fascinated learning new languages and exploring different cultures. During my tours, I enjoy bringing together my academic background and my personal passions, discovering together all the meaning, history and connections behind each sight.
I’m Flora, a history graduate and a friendly, humorous tour guide who loves bringing the past to life. For me, history is most exciting when we can experience it together on a walk. Join me, and I’ll show you the stories hidden in the streets around us.
