I was born in Patagonia and have lived in the La Boca neighborhood for five years. My greatest wish is that anyone who comes to Argentina, upon setting foot on this land, feels a little bit Argentine. This would be a great honor and bring me immense satisfaction. For the Argentine heart, in our land, no one is a foreigner if they come with the desire to feel like one of our brothers and sisters. That heart and that brotherhood are what we offer most sincerely and most preciously.

Tour description

Discover El Abasto, the "unofficial" neighborhood of Buenos Aires. A quintessential working-class neighborhood, it's also the birthplace of the legendary Carlos Gardel. You'll uncover the fascinating history behind one of its most iconic buildings: the Abasto Market. You'll be amazed by all the details of the emergence of this unique and irreplaceable neighborhood.

We'll travel back to the beginning, to the golden age: the boom and expansion of the area; also to its closure and abandonment, to its resurgence and current context. For over a century, El Abasto welcomed immigrants and locals, thus creating its own unique identity. Theaters, circuses, taverns, cantinas, and bars sprang up there, giving it a unique and picturesque lifestyle, full of great stories and anecdotes that we'll discover in its streets to understand the essence of Buenos Aires.
We'll explore the places where Gardel got his start: his home, bars, and the secrets of his epic life. You'll also experience the authentic world of tango clubs, milongas, and tango houses like a local, not in an artificial way.
Don't miss the opportunity to experience the secrets of a mythical neighborhood where the identity of Buenos Aires was forged.
