Free Historical and Cultural Tour of Brighton

We‘ll then take a closer look at the exterior of the Royal Pavilion and learn more about its colourful history. We‘ll turn the corner and pass the popular venues of Brighton Dome and the Corn Exchange. We‘ll walk along New Road to the Theatre Royal. We‘ll cross the road and wander through the Lanes, stopping at the Town Hall, to gain an insight into the area once called ‘Brighthelmstone’ Then we will see The Cricketers, Brighton’s oldest pub. We will then wander up to Middle Street and try to picture ourselves in the 60’s outside the Hippodrome, before heading along to the elegant Grand Hotel. The tour will continue down on the seafront to take in the i360 and the remains of the only grade 1 listed pier in the UK, the West Pier. We’ll make a stop outside the Fishing Museum to hear some stories of the sea and continue to the only operational pier, the Palace Pier. We will finish our tour by hopefully seeing the oldest electric railway in action, Volks Electric Railway and passing through the ‘rock n’ roll’ tunnel to the world’s oldest Aquarium, Sealife.
