Tokyo: Imperial Palace 1-Hour Walking Tour

This compact 1-hour guided tour begins at the iconic Marunouchi red-brick building of Tokyo Station. The station stands as a symbol of Japan’s modernization. Your guide will explain the architectural design, European influences, and the remarkable restoration that brought the historic building back to life.

Leaving the station behind, we walk through the elegant Marunouchi district. Surrounded by sleek skyscrapers, you’ll notice traces of the past. Depending on the season, the beautiful ginkgo tree-lined streets offer a striking contrast to the modern skyline—especially in autumn when the leaves turn a brilliant gold.

We then head toward the Imperial Palace Outer Gardens. With wide open spaces, stone walls, and historic moats, this area offers a glimpse into the legacy of Edo Castle. Near the Starbucks area, you’ll see how contemporary Tokyo life coexists harmoniously with centuries of history.

The tour concludes at Otemon Gate and Tatsumi Yagura Watchtower. Standing before these impressive structures, you’ll learn about the defensive design of Edo Castle and the role of the Imperial Palace today. In just one hour, you’ll gain a layered understanding of architecture, urban planning, and Japanese history.

At the end of the tour, you’ll receive an original self-guide booklet filled with useful tips and additional information, allowing you to continue exploring the area at your own pace.
