Bogotá Divided: Memories of a City at War

The tour lasts 3 hours
Available in English and Spanish

Description

Bogotá holds stories that do not appear on tourist postcards. Behind its squares, avenues, and historic buildings lie the traces of a city marked by deep political divisions, social conflicts, and events that forever changed the course of Colombia.
In this tour, we will walk through key scenarios of the Historic Center to discover how bipartisan violence, the leadership of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, the Bogotazo, and migrations caused by the conflict shaped the Bogotá we know today. Through stories, memories, and emblematic spaces, we will reconstruct an era in which the city became a reflection of the tensions that crossed the country.
Each stop will allow us to understand how the events of the 20th century left visible and invisible marks on the urban landscape, transforming neighborhoods, customs, and ways of inhabiting the capital.
This tour proposes to look at Bogotá from a different perspective, understanding its streets as living stages of collective memory. An experience that connects past and present to reflect on city building, the value of historical memory, and the lessons that still today leave us with one of the most transcendental periods in Colombian history.
Because to understand today's Bogotá, we must first listen to the stories that still resonate in its streets.
