Description
Welcome to Skopje, where ancient history, Ottoman heritage, and modern life meet. Discover the city, its rich history, culture and architecture with a licensed local guide with extensive historical, cultural, and political knowledge. Your guide will provide unique insights into the country's past, present, and contemporary developments, offering a deeper understanding of Skopje beyond the typical tourist experience.
Our walking tour begins at the Old Railway Station, a symbol of the 1963 earthquake, continues through Macedonia Street, the city's lively pedestrian boulevard, before reaching the Assembly. Next, we arrive at Macedonia Square, the heart of the city, surrounded by monuments and impressive architecture. From there, we cross the iconic Stone Bridge, built during the Ottoman period, that connects the modern centre to the historic quarter. On the other side lies the Old Bazaar, one of the largest and best-preserved Ottoman bazaars in the Balkans. Our tour ends at Kale Fortress, overlooking the Vardar River and offering spectacular panoramic views of both the modern city and the Old Bazaar.
This tour is the perfect introduction to Skopje, showcasing its rich cultural heritage, diverse influences, and fascinating transformation through the centuries.
