Description
Do you want to discover the real Naples?
I'm Gennaro, a professional archaeologist, a licensed tour guide and, above all, a true Neapolitan!
Join me on a journey through 2,500 years of history, where ancient ruins, lively streets, traditions and local stories come together.
We'll meet at the Museo metro station, near the National Archaeological Museum, and head into the Rione Sanità, one of Naples' most authentic neighborhoods. Here, everyday life unfolds among centuries of history and hidden treasures.
Passing through Porta San Gennaro, we'll enter the historic center and follow streets that still preserve the layout of Greek and Roman Neapolis.
Along Via dei Tribunali, I'll reveal fascinating traces of the ancient city. We'll then discover Naples Cathedral, a symbol of the city's devotion to San Gennaro, before continuing through the historic streets towards the magnificent Piazza del Plebiscito.
Why choose this tour?
Because you'll discover Naples through the eyes of someone who lives it, studies it and loves sharing its stories. As an archaeologist and licensed guide, I'll help you look beyond the monuments and uncover the extraordinary history hidden in plain sight.
Come discover the authentic Naples with me, and perhaps we'll even enjoy a pizza together!
Guide: Gennaro
Guiding since 2026I am a professional archaeologist and a tour guide, but first and foremost, I am a tourist myself.
When I travel, I want to understand what I am looking at, why a place is the way it is, and what stories lie behind a street, a church, a building, or even a pile of stones. I have dedicated years to archaeological, historical, and artistic study and research, and over time I have become convinced of one thing: seeing a place is nice, but understanding it completely changes the experience.
Sometimes all it takes is a story, a detail you hadn't noticed, or a different perspective to make a place truly memorable. And this is precisely what drove me to become a tour guide. In my tours, I would like to show you what I try to see myself, connect the pieces, and give voice to the places.
And yes, I will probably be the first tourist in the group: the one who continues to marvel even in front of places he has known for years. If at the end of the tour you look at a place with different eyes, remember a story, or find yourself telling someone "you know what I discovered?", then I will have done my job well.
Because knowing what surrounds us helps us appreciate it more and, perhaps, in our small way, contribute to making the world a bit more beautiful to know. And believe me if an archaeologist says so, who can see beauty even in an "old stone."
