Telde is located a short distance from the airport of Gran Canaria. Today it is the second most populated and economically active municipality on the island. Although at first glance it may not attract attention beyond its beaches and shopping areas along the southern highway (GC-1), by venturing about 5 kilometers inland, at 130 meters above sea level, the historic center of Telde offers a surprise. 

Its foundational neighborhoods are a landscape and heritage gem. Since pre-Hispanic times, Telde has always played a crucial role in the history of Gran Canaria. In addition to being the birthplace of key figures in the history of the Canary Islands, famous travelers have left their mark on Telde's memory: the writer Sanmao, the ill-fated Maximilian I, or the endearing Lulú.

So much culture nourished by the Vega Mayor. We will discover the importance of the Heredad de Aguas de la Vega Mayor of Telde, created in the 15th century -just after the island was conquered by the Catholic Monarchs- to manage one of the most valuable natural watersheds in the Canary Islands.
