Free Walking Gastronomische Touren in George Town

Did this tour with Ashline and honestly it was one of the highlights of my Penang trip. She really knows George Town inside out — took us to some great food spots I definitely wouldn’t have found on my own, and shared a lot of history and local stories along the way.

Our tour with Ashline was fantastic—very enjoyable and informative. She shared lots of interesting insights about the street art and the temples we passed along the way, which made the experience even more engaging. Every food stop was excellent, and the portion sizes were just right. The only exception was the last stop, where the serving was a bit too much—but only because everyone was already very full by then! Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend this tour.

We booked a tour. In total we were with 4 people on the tour. We saw 6 places where we tried multiple things. We got some information about the food. In between stops we walked for a bit and got also some information about the city en buildings. Our tourguide was also really nice and if we had questions we could always ask. We really liked it.

Great tour, highly recommend, you will be so full after tasting so many local delicacies. Garrick takes you all over the place, into places you would never know have Michelin awards! He’s highly informative about ANYTHING Penang. You won’t be disappointed

Great food tour around Little India.

Great snacks and good stories

1. Started on time and ended about 3.5 hours later (although advertised as 2.5-hour tour) 2. Very detailed information on historical/heritage buildings probably best appreciated by history buffs or those with a cultural background of Southeast Asia or Malaysia more generally, and the Straits Settlements more specifically 3. Very approachable, knowledgeable and eager to please, exactly the kind of host you'd expect and wish for especially when traveling solo in an unfamiliar place; feel very well taken care of 4. Great food choices, and very reasonable costs (RM20 per person in a group of 5) The tour is focused on Indian spices and food in Penang/Malaysia, and may be a lil too much if you aren't as interested or invested in the same or prefer a more compact tour in half the time. For me it was leisurely and thoroughly enjoyable and I'd do it again with a partner to partake in the fun. Entertainment value can be enhanced with pop quizzes & small prizes relevant to the tour rather than one-sided info sharing that can be rather overwhelming at times. Still your tour companions matter, and I've had much luck with mine.

Pooi hat uns sehr viel Wissen über die Stadt und die typischen Gerichte vermittelt. Wir haben so viele leckere Gerichte probiert! Absolute Empfehlung!
