We’re Cillín and Emily — two Galway locals with a serious grá for history, culture, and stories worth telling.
We created Éire Eile to shine a light on the Galway we know — not the curated version dressed up for tourists, but the vibrant, rebellious, and unexpectedly brilliant city we grew up in.
Our tours are built on lived experience, local insight, and a frankly ridiculous amount of research — all shared in our own relaxed, curious, and slightly cheeky style.
Expect to do a bit of walking, a bit of standing around, and the occasional well-timed nod.
Emily was a charismatic and informative guide, taking us on a journey through Galway's medieval history and up to modern day, seeing all the key sites, as well as some things that were tucked away or unnoticeable to the average tourist! Being from Galway, Emily was able to bring some of her own stories, humour, and favourite things about the city into her tour which made it feel authentic and really personal. Her passion for language, culture and architecture were great for an insight into the real Galway and by the end of the tour I felt like I had learned a lot, and found some things from a local I might have missed on a larger or more commercial tour. Thank you!
Cillín did a great job of providing the history of Galway (and Ireland as a whole when needed). Sprinkled in with stories of interesting characters from Galway's history, this tour enriched our time here and would highly recommend it.
