My name is Stephen I am originally from the UK but now I am fortunate enough to be able to call Gibraltar my home. I have been fascinated by Gibraltar's history ever since my first visit in the early 1990's. I especially love walking around the Upper Rock and I hope to get the chance to meet you and show you a few of the attractions that Gibraltar has to offer. To show people around the Upper Rock, to take them to both the popular and lesser known places found in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve was the reason why I started being a tour guide.
Details of the Upper Rock Walking Tour
**** PLEASE MESSAGE ME BEFORE BOOKING THIS TOUR SO WE CAN INFORM YOU WHETHER WE HAVE ENOUGH BOOKINGS TO BE ABLE TO RUN THE TOUR. IF NOT WE MAYBE ABLE TO OFFER ANOTHER TIME OR DATE ****
The duration of this Tour will is in the region of 3 hours and we proceed at a leisurely pace which is set by the participants as we walk up the Rock.
There will be numerous photo opportunities along the route. You will get the chance to see some stunning views and many of the historical military sites that are found in the Upper Rock.
I can take you to places that you would not usually visit if you go up by taxi or mini bus and I guarantee that you will always see some of Gibraltar’s world famous Monkeys.
I specialise in small groups which allows me to alter the length of the tour, extend the time we spend in one place, or even amend the start time if and when this is requested.
The paths along the Upper Rock are uneven in places therefore we recommend you wear suitable shoes and that you also bring along a bottle of water, because it can get quite hot up the Rock in the Summer months.
A Face Mask is currently required to enter St Michaels Cave and the Great Siege Tunnels so please remember to bring one.
The meeting place for the Tour will be at the bottom of Library Ramp, across from the front entrance of the Elliot Hotel which is in the centre of the City.
From here we proceed to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve where you will be required to purchase an entrance ticket. The current price to enter the Nature Reserve and all the attractions is £13.00 and you can pay in Euro's if you prefer.
The attractions visited will include
Devil’s Gap Battery
The Genoese Battery
The Apes Den
The Windsor Bridge
The Queens Lookout
St Michaels Cave
The Pillars of Hercules
The Mediterranean Steps
O'Hara’s Battery (The Highest Point)
The Sky Walkway
The Top of the Charles V Steps
The Cable Car Top Station
The Great Siege Tunnels (**See Please note**)
The Viewing Platform on Willis Road
The Tour will end back in the centre of the Town.
(**Please note that we do not always enter the Great Siege Tunnels, however if you would like to do so then please message me so this can be arranged. You will need to allow roughly an extra hour to visit them**).
We operate on a "pay-what-you-want" basis provided we achieve a minimum number of bookings to conduct the Tour.
Please note that for groups of more than 4 people we do not operate on a "pay-what-you-want" basis.
For larger and private groups we can customize the length of the Tour and start when you wish.
We can also arrange a Tour starting at the top and visiting the attraction as we walk down.
Meeting point: Open in Google Maps
How to find me: The meeting point will be Library Ramp which is across from the front entrance to the Eliott Hotel in the City centre. I will be at the bottom of Library Ramp, under the Library Ramp Street Sign, and wearing a Gibraltar Official Licenced Guide Badge.

Absolutely brilliant Tour. Great tour guide and very knowledgeable I could not get a 9 o'clock tour as not enough bookings so he fitted me in at 2 o'clock which I was very grateful for.
This was a really great Tour. The earlier start time did not work for us so I contacted Stephen and booked on the 2:00 PM tour instead. This was a chargeable Tour but was very reasonable and no more than I would have tipped anyway. We did the Med Steps, well off the beaten track and highly recommended. If your in Gibraltar this Tour is a must.
Such a fantastic way to spend the day. Quite a bit of effort but a really great day. We took the Mediterranean Steps option to the summit and it was round trip. Really enjoyed Stephens company and insights about the region. An absolute must and Stephen is a wonderful guide.
Nice tour, requires some fitness though since the Rock ist quite high and you're basically starting from sea level. Bring a bottle of water, you'll need it! I would have liked a bit more info on Gibraltar's history. Didn't come prepared, just popping in for a day during a stay in Andalucia. But Stephen was always there for questions and we had nice conversations. Thanks for the walk, Stephen! Roland, Germany
