Alfama Free Tour: Viewpoints, Fado and Lisbon's Oldest Quarter

Starting at 10:30, in October 2026: Sé Catedral de Lisboa, Miradouro das Portas do Sol and Chafariz d’El-Rei.

  • 2 hours and 45 minutes
  • English, Spanish, French and Italian

Description

Alfama is the Lisbon that withstood the 1755 earthquake: alleys of Arab origin, washing hung out to dry, azulejos and fado drifting from the windows. In under three hours you explore the city's oldest quarter and its best viewpoints. Brought to you by the company with over 100,000 five-star reviews.

We set off from Casa dos Bicos and climb past the Chafariz d'El Rei, the old Jewish quarter, the squares of São Miguel and Santo Estêvão, Largo do Salvador and Nuno Saraiva's mural, up to the Portas do Sol and Santa Luzia viewpoints. We finish at the Sé, Lisbon's cathedral.

We tell you what saudade means, where to hear real fado and where to eat in the neighbourhood. Look for the blue umbrella. At the end, you decide what the tour was worth.
