Tour description
With this free walking tour, you will explore Dubrovnik center as a local would. I will make sure that you discover all the secrets and beauty of this city.
For 450 years the aristocratic city-state Republic of Dubrovnik held independence (14th-19th cent.) between big and powerful rivals and natural disasters in very turbulent European medieval times.
Old Town was the capital of the Dubrovnik Republic, a center of once small size but significant maritime power. Today Old Town of Dubrovnik is a UNESCO world heritage site, a location that is almost like a big open museum where time almost stopped for centuries. Surrounded by ancient 2 km ditched city walls with numerous towers and forts.
Walking route:
From the City gates of Pile (west entrance), through a stone bridge with a wooden suspension below the tower, via main street Stradun (Placa) to the City gates Ploče (east entrance) and few little streets by side.
