About the Tour

Would you like to see the city with a native English-speaking tour guide who has had the honor to be a full-time tour guide in the city of Berlin since 2014? Then read on.

Through years of experience, I have learned that these tours are most enjoyable for you if I hone it down to just the most exciting stops and the most interesting stories.

Alfred Hitchcock once said "the length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder," and I think that applies doubly so to a tour. You're on holiday, I appreciate that. You want to see the main sites, take the best photos, maybe laugh a little, and then head off on to the next adventure.

With that in mind, I keep the tour to an entertaining one and a half hours. During that time we will see the main sites, allowing you to take photos of:

  • The Brandenburg Gate
  • The Reichstag
  • The Memorial to the Murdered Jews Of Europe
  • The remains of Hitler's bunker
  • The site of a failed Cold War uprising
  • Hermann Göring's Luftwaffe HQ
  • The SS and Gestapo HQ
  • The Berlin Wall
  • Checkpoint Charlie

More important than the sites themselves are the stories. Little insightful or interesting anecdotes; escapes over and under the Wall, why there's a Wall in the first place, tales from the Battle of Berlin, Hitler's last day, what even is Checkpoint Charlie, etc, etc.

Having done these tours for the better part of a decade, I can usually field any history question you may have about the nation or the city, and can also offer suggestions of the best places in the city for gin, pretentious coffee (my vice), or the most memorable Berlin restaurants with something unique to them.

I hope to see you soon,
Theo

Meeting point: Open in Google Maps

How to find me: I will be underneath the Pariser Platz signpost in front of the American embassy with a very obvious rainbow coloured umbrella and name badge. Please note, there may be other tours running in the square, often with other coloured umbrellas. I personally only operate underneath my rainbow umbrella, so if you see a red umbrella, blue umbrella etc, that's somebody else. Don't go with them, they are strangers, and our mothers taught us all to never go anywhere with strangers ;)

The tour with Theo was not only super interesting because of the little-known facts and stories he shared with us, but also so enjoyable. His jokes, friendly and positive attitude and eagerness to answer all the questions that popped into our minds regarding the city, its history and culture, made a great experience of the tour! More than highly recommended!
