As a seasoned walking tour host for 8 years now, I share a passion for discovering new cities and connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds. With this, I bring a unique perspective to each of my tours beyond just history. I have enjoyed working with embassies and institutes in curating custom tours on request. Originally hailing from South India, I have spent 4 years calling Frankfurt my home, while immersing myself in the local culture and exploring the surrounding areas. My tours are shaped around the things that excite me the most about these cities. I have travelled to more that 35 cities in and around Germany where I have had the pleasure of interacting with fellow walking tour hosts, exchanging ideas and learning from their experiences. As for me, I am an artist and urban researcher constantly seeking out new and innovative ways to explore the public realm and share its beauty with others. Since 2017, I have also curated my own heritage walks and inclusive art trails, bringing a personalized touch to each tour and ensuring that every guest feels engaged and inspired. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, I am excited to share my love for cities with you on your next walking tour adventure.

Tour description

IMPORTANT: I had a few medical emergencies last year that show up as a 'cancellation risk' here. Please note that this is no longer the case, I do tours regularly and via multiple platforms. I appreciate your understanding.

Hello and welcome to Frankfurt, a city whose modern and snazzy skyline almost casts a shadow upon all the other heritage beneath it. We will begin our tour at the entrance of the Alte Oper, and head towards the Innenstadt, leaving behind the modern banking district.

This tour takes you from the outer peripheries to the inner ring of medieval Frankfurt, and focuses on the role that trade, the people of the city and democracy play in how the city has grown since the 12th century.

Along this route, we will drop by the city's Neue Börse or stock exchange that attracts finance professionals. We then resume our tour walking across the Zeil, Frankfurt's main shopping street, and one of the busiest shopping streets in Europe, where you can observe a mix of historic and modern buildings. Another stop along the way is the famed Kleinmarkthalle or market hall with tips for the foodies. Stick around and listen carefully as I share how Frankfurt's medieval and political history as a german city is somewhat unique when compared to the others that you may have visited.

Saving the most interest parts of the tour for the last, we discuss some fun facts about the city's 'new' old city or Neue Altstadt at the Römerberg, adjacent to the city hall Römer.

Last but not the least, we'll make our last stop on our way to the Eiserner Steg Bridge, a popular Frankfurt landmark that offers panoramic views of the Main River and the city skyline where we will end our tour with suggestions for a frankfurter favourite and special - Apfelwein.

I look forward to walk together on this walking tour of Frankfurt to discover the city's rich heritage and modernity, and experience the perfect blend of old and new. I am happy to accomodate larger groups or timings outside the schedule here. Please leave a message. Enquiries on customising the tour are welcome at [email protected].

Language availability of the tour is currently only in English. I request a confirmation as early as possible since I will be arriving in Frankfurt especially for you. I do not live in the city anymore. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes for the tour.

The tour duration will be 60-120 minutes based on the group and individual interest.

Close to Frankfurt is Darmstadt, a university town with some beautiful architecture and art history. As an artist myself, this is my favourite tour!
