Frankfurt beyond just the skyline: A perfect introduction to the highlights of the city
As a seasoned walking tour host with a passion for discovering new cities and connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I bring a unique perspective to each of my tours. Originally hailing from South India, I have spent the past two years calling Frankfurt my home, while immersing myself in the local culture and exploring the surrounding areas. Over the last 2 years, I have travelled to more that 35 cities in and around Germany where I have had the pleasure of interacting with fellow walking tour hosts, exchanging ideas and learning from their experiences. As an artist, architect, and urban planner, I am constantly seeking out new and innovative ways to explore the public realm and share its beauty with others. For the past four years, I have curated my own heritage walks and inclusive art trails, bringing a personalized touch to each tour and ensuring that every guest feels engaged and inspired. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, I am excited to share my love of culture, history, and art with you on your next walking tour adventure.
Tour description
Welcome to our walking tour of Frankfurt, a city whose modern and snazzy skyline almost casts a shadow upon all the other heritage beneath it.
We will begin our tour in the green belt opposite the Alte Oper, and head towards the Innenstadt leaving behind the modern banking district
As we walk into Hauptwache, I will share more about Frankfurt’s history of being targeted across time. We next take a peek into the Zeil, Frankfurt's main shopping street, and one of the busiest shopping streets in Europe, observe a mix of historic and modern buildings and then continue walking towards the Römerplatz. Stick around and listen carefully as I share how Frankfurt's medieval and political history as a german city is somewhat unique when compared to the others that you may have visited.
Finally, we'll make our last stop on our way to the Eiserner Steg Bridge, a popular Frankfurt landmark that offers panoramic views of the Main River and the city skyline where we will end our tour with suggestions for a frankfurter favourite and special - Apfelwein.
Join us on this walking tour of Frankfurt to discover the city's rich heritage and modernity, and experience the perfect blend of old and new.
Please remember to wear comfortable shoes for the tour.
