The most interesting neighborhoods of Lisbon: Baixa, Chiado, and Alfama

Our walk covers the neighborhoods of downtown Lisbon with different atmospheres and styles. We get to know the elegant Baixa, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake. We will visit the bohemian Chiado district and then end our walk in the old Alfama. We also use secret shortcuts to see the most with the least climbing.

Among other things:

  • we will visit a hidden palace
  • we'll save you from a queue at one of the city's best viewpoints
  • we get to know the characteristics of urban architecture before and after the earthquake
  • we will find out why orange trees grow in the old town
  • we understand the role of strange urban wells
  • while visiting the three neighborhoods, we use shortcuts known only to the locals

The tour lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes

There are lucky ones who were born and grew up in Portugal, and there are those who chose this amazing country later as their home. I still consider myself lucky to be the latter one. I'm sure there are a lot of things that I see differently from a deep-rooted local, just as there are certain things that I notice and appreciate so that I can tell you about cultural differences and show you those little things that local people could take for granted but are indeed a valuable part of their lives. I have been working as a tour guide and guidebook writer for more than 15 years. I have always had a passion to explore cities and landscapes and then show the most interesting parts of the world to others.

The Arco do Bandeira is a yellow and white building that is also a gateway. The statue in the middle of the square is looking right at it.
