Description
Hello, travelers from all around the world!
Welcome to Kazakhstan and its "Southern capital” at the foot of the magnificent Alatau mountains – wonderful Almaty! This city breathes history: here the country's rich past, vibrant culture and everyday life meet modern energy and stunning mountain scenery!
On my tour, I will introduce you to the histories of Almaty and Kazakhstan, we will explore the city's striking architecture, vibrant culture, and every day life as we visit the Highlights of the City Centre! + I'll share popular local spots and give recommendations including some hidden gems
You will see, how the country's rich history, culture, and everyday life are reflected in this beautiful city!
Some of the landmarks we will visit:
- graceful Ascension Cathedral
- Memorial of Glory and Eternal Flame
- Green Bazaar with hands-on cultural experience - traditional Kazakh sweets, snack, mare's milk tasting!
- House of officers
- House of officers' meetings (Museum of folk musical instruments - exterior view)
- Panfilov pedestrian street with important landmarks along it - 1st and 2nd Kazakh SSR Government buildings, Aliya and Manshuk monument, "Astana" square, etc.
- Charming Opera House
- several buildings from the Russian empire era
- ... and more
The duration of the tour is ~ 3.15-25 hours, depending on the pace of the group (and the number of questions )
Please, note, this is the new itinerary lasting 3,15-25 hours - including a visit to the Cathedral, tastings at the Green bazaar and photo opportunities.
Originally, I offered tours lasting 4 h. However, after recieving feedbacks from participants, I decided to shorten it without compromising on being informative! I removed the Arbat street from the itinerary because it's better to visit it another time, beter around or after the sunset, allowing you to fully enjoy its atmosphere!
Hope you enjoy the new itinerary!
Please note that the Green bazaar is closed on Mondays - it has its day off
On the tour, I will be glad to help you and give you some advice on your time in Almaty from a local's point of view – please, don't hesitate to ask me!
I look forward to meeting you on the tour!
P.S. I make dates available when I see I will be free

Hello and welcome! My name is Aiguerim (it’s like “I” + “green”, with an “m” instead of “n” at the end 😉), but you can call me Amy! 🙋♀️ I’m a certified guide in Almaty, the "Southern capital" of Kazakhstan, also called the City of Apples🍎 I did some work in journalism, then I taught English as a tutor and also taught Russian to foreigners:) I enjoy many things like cooking, hiking, singing, travelling, and languages — apart from English, I learned Spanish - el español, la lengua más linda!☺️ I’ve been to 11 countries and I’m planning to visit more!
I’d be happy to show you my beautiful city! Although I was born in the north of Kazakhstan, I’ve been living in Almaty for 17 years, and I truly love it! I think Almaty is very special: a place where nomadic, imperial, Soviet and post‑independence heritages meet, making it a truly unique blend! Join my walking tour to discover the city! I’d also be glad to share helpful tips and give recommendations from a local’s point of view☺️
See you on the tour!
