Hi, I’m Philipp – a certified local guide, trained architect, and founder of Philipp's Munich Tours. I’m a native German speaker and fluent in English and Spanish. Over the years, I’ve received hundreds of 5-star reviews across multiple platforms. My tours blend architecture, art, history, and creativity to reveal a side of Munich that’s full of surprises. We’ll explore iconic landmarks like the Frauenkirche as well as hidden gems such as Bahnwärter Thiel with bold street art, the quirky Alte Utting (featured in The New York Times), and the amazing Isar River. In bohemian Schwabing, we’ll uncover striking Jugendstil architecture and trace the footsteps of cultural icons like Thomas Mann and Wassily Kandinsky, co-founder of the expressionist movement Blauer Reiter (Blue Rider). Expect vivid storytelling, unexpected discoveries, and a creative twist – you’ll even make your own spray-painted postcard as a personal souvenir. Join me for a unique and unforgettable Munich adventure!

Tour description

Creative Urban Experience in Munich’s Artistic South

Bilingual Tour (English & German) | Small Group – Max. 12 Guests

Experience a bold and creative side of Munich on this bilingual small-group tour led by Philipp, a certified official city guide and architect. This experience takes you beyond the historic center into Munich’s vibrant southern districts, where architecture, culture, and contemporary art collide.

Begin with a visit to the striking Münchner Volkstheater, a modern architectural landmark located in the transformed former cattle-yard district. From there, continue to the Alte Utting, an extraordinary beer garden set on a ship—celebrated even by The New York Times.

Next, immerse yourself in Munich’s alternative art scene at Bahnwärter Thiel, a creative hotspot built from more than 40 repurposed shipping containers and covered in ever-changing street art.

The experience culminates in Philipp’s own colorful artist studio—also housed in a shipping container. Here, you’ll use professional stencils and spray paint to create six unique Munich postcards. No artistic background is required—just curiosity, imagination, and a willingness to experiment. Your finished pieces make a truly personal souvenir or an original gift.

A unique blend of contemporary architecture, urban culture, and hands-on creativity—this experience offers an authentic look at Munich’s modern creative spirit.
