Corfu Essential Walking Tour with an Archaeologist
The tour lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes
Available in German, Greek and English
Description
Join me on a walking tour through the historic heart of Corfu—the island where I grew up—and discover the city through the eyes of a local and an archaeologist.
As we wander through its streets, we’ll explore a wide range of topics, from history, politics and mythology to art, culture, architecture and food. Rather than simply recounting dates and facts, I enjoy creating meaningful conversations about how history and culture are experienced, remembered and interpreted by communities—and how the past continues to shape everyday life in Corfu today.
Along the way, we’ll visit some of the city’s most characteristic landmarks, including the Old Venetian Fortress, the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, and the famous Liston and Spianada Square. Each stop will give us an opportunity to delve into the stories behind these places, their historical significance, and what they have come to mean to generations of Corfiots.
By the end of our walk, I hope you’ll leave with more than a collection of historical facts. You’ll have a deeper, well-rounded understanding of Corfu—its layered past, its distinctive culture, and the people who have made this one-of-a-kind Greek island what it is today.
