Joan - Tour Guide in Mombasa

The tour was amazing. Joan showed us lots of nice local food spots and we also saw lots of old town mombasa, which was definitely a plus. All the food we tried was amazing and she tailored the tour specifically to our likes as well as to what we have and haven't tried before.

Joan was a really great guide- she has a lot of diverse knowledge about Kenyan culture and history which she used to put a lot of the food we tried into context. She was very flexible to the fact that I am vegetarian and have already tried a few Kenyan dishes. She has a friendly relationship with a lot of local businesses, which made the experience more personal. It also meant that when I left a possession at a local tearoom, she called the owner and they found it- after which she came back with me to retrieve it! Joan is friendly and fun and she goes out of her way to accommodate. She was late but more than made up for it.

Would recommend you to take a tour with Joan who is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject and we had some great food

We had a really nice evening with Joan. The food during the tour was amazing and we also walked around in different parts of Mombasa. Joan also learned us about the culture, the different religion and other interestings facts about Mombasa and Kenya. We really recommed the tour. Don't eat a lot before the tour 😉

Joan is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly person with a great passion for Kenya’s local cuisine. She shown us various spots for amazing food which we would have never found on our own and she highlighted how it relates to the culture. You should definitely consider including this tour in your itinerary when you visit Mombasa 😉 (for us it definitely enriched the experience while visiting Mombasa)
