Muhammed Salih

Hi! I’m Muhammed Salih. I’ve lived here in İstanbul long enough to call myself an İstanbullu (a local). At some point, the city simply became home. I studied Theology and worked as a research assistant for a couple of years. I enjoyed parts of it, but I realized pretty quickly that academic life wasn’t really for me. I’m much happier being out in the city, meeting people, walking around and sharing the stories behind the places we see. So I changed direction and became a tour guide. Outside of tours, I spend a lot of time reading, exploring different parts of İstanbul, or finding excuses to walk around without any real destination. There’s always something new to notice here — an inscription I’ve walked past a hundred times, a strange little building, or a story I somehow never came across before. That’s basically what I try to bring to my tours: the İstanbul I actually know and enjoy, not just a list of famous sights.
