Hi, everyone. My name is Ivan and I’m a travel writer based in Paris. I just moved and having few friends here decided to organize free « randonnées littéraires »(starting at Orwell’s, 10, Rue du Pot du Fer), philosophical tours(guided by my girlfriend, Anna-Lisa specialist on Deleuze), and a French Revolution tour (massacres, sex & Revolution et guillotines).
The tour combines general history of St-Petersburg and picturesque locations. You will be shown along the Moyka embankment, the Fontanka embankment; across Palace square, the field of Mars, past the Summer Garden and through the yards where Joseph Brodskiy and Anna Akhmatov, two great Russian poets, conceived their still-resonating masterpieces. It is a 100% street tour, so for most of the year, it it is better to be warmly dressed whilst on the tour. A little bit about myself. My name is Ivan and I work as a tour-guide, when I have free time I enjoy reading English writers such as George Orwell and Joseph Conrad, I am also a history fan and it is partly why I chose the tour-route that I offer you to follow: on the jounrey you will find a lot of historic sights. I love eating out, so if you look for good dinner just ask me. If you are interested in Russian history and current affairs I'm always glad to tell you about the most eerie historic events and the most surprising and latest developements.
In front of the Dekabrist cafe, which is identifiable by a red signboard, with ginger hair and a book in my hand. I am only there on the days mentioned above and at the time specified.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
