- The Medici family
The Rise and Fall of a Dynasty: Lights and Shadows of a Family .
Have you ever wondered why our region still retains such a strong charm and identity that it can be seen visibly in the uses, customs, public and private architecture and even in the kitchen. For centuries and decades, Tuscany has been a "pilgrimage" destination for many travelers and attracts the curiosity and attention of many people, whether they are intellectuals or not, it doesn't matter. Today globe trotters of all kinds invade our region to discover its most arcane secrets. We owe all of this to a family that has illuminated the area over the centuries with its constant presence: the Medici.
In 400 years of almost unchallenged dominion, it has left us a cultural legacy that the whole world envies us: THE Renaissance.
In our journey through time we will meet world-famous writers, humanists, artists, shrewd bankers, enterprising merchants, but also squanderers of public money, bloodthirsty despots willing to do anything to maintain power. We will come across corrupted Queens, Grand Dukes and Popes and together we will understand more the intrigues of the court. There will be stories of unscrupulous adventurers such as Giovanni dalle Bande Nere. In short, you understood it: behind each member of this glorious family emerges one and only ambitious project: to pursue and realize an impossible dream: the grandeur and magnificence that still today never ceases to amaze us. Enjoy your visit.
