Hi! My name is Cristian and I am from Cuenca, Spain. 3 years ago I started working as a guide in my land and some time later, together with a friend, I was the co-founder of a tourism company. I obtained the title of official tourist guide almost 2 years ago and, since then, my purpose is to disseminate the history, the legends, and the coolest and most interesting things of Cuenca to anyone who wants to know it. Today, I am The Juggler of History, so I tell the history of Cuenca in a rigorous, entertaining, and professional way. I'm delighted to be your guide in Cuenca and that together we not only get to know it but together we discover it: its history, its culture, its heritage, it's past and it's present. Let yourself be guided by the minstrel of history. We sure had a great time!

Tour description

Discover Cuenca in a unique way, through its legends. Immerse yourself in the mysteries of this medieval city on the only themed/theatrical tour in town.

Our meeting point will be the fountain in Plaza Mayor, in the Plaza Mayor, opposite the steps of the Cathedral, next to Globalcaja.

Our first stop will be the San Miguel neighborhood, where legend says there were ghosts that terrorized the population... to go to our next point, where we will tell you the legend behind a small prank in the city, the Eyes of the Moorish Woman.

Later, we will go down to the Hermitage of Las Angustias, where we will tell the most famous legend of the city, which inspired Bécquer for one of his rhyming works.

We will go back the way we came and leave, along the Júcar riverbank, towards one of the first Christian churches in the city, the church of San Nicolás, to tell the legend of the saint's miracles.

We'll go to the other gorge, the Huécar, to learn the love story between Don Julián and Doña Angustias, under the watchful eye of the Christ of the passageway, and from there we'll descend to the Hanging Houses, where we'll tell the legend of the House of the Mermaid, and discover if there are mermaids, with their songs, in the city of Cuenca...

Finally, we will end the tour in the famous Plaza de Mangana, where, at the foot of the tower of the same name, we will tell the most terrifying legend of Cuenca, the one that features witches from the 17th century.

And the most special thing of all... an apparition will accompany us throughout the entire journey...

NOTE: The theatrical tour costs €12 per person. This is the amount we value our work and the investment made in costumes, hats, and masks. We understand that this is a free tour, but please keep in mind that we rely solely on this activity for our livelihood, so we greatly appreciate your feedback, both in terms of comments and the price. If you feel you don't value the two-and-a-half-hour theatrical mystery tour at this price, we would appreciate it if you didn't make a reservation so that others who do can participate. Thank you.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE

Travelers, we know perfectly well that this is a free tour platform, so in response to some somewhat negative opinions that only criticized the fact that we give a ticket at the beginning of the tour, we want to clarify why we hand it out, even though we always do it at the beginning of the tour.
We don't just offer free tours; we work with many platforms, some requiring prepayment and others where the client pays upon arrival at our meeting point. Many people choose free tour platforms without really knowing what they are or how much to tip. This website has a FAQ section with answers to all those questions, so we focus on what's important: we provide a ticket, the amount of which reflects our valuation of our service. This is essential for any potential tax audit and serves as a simplified invoice. You are never asked to pay this amount; you simply need to bring it with you. Many people prefer to pay the amount upfront and then have peace of mind knowing they've paid, while others prefer to tip whatever they want at the end of the tour (of course, there are also those who leave early or at the end of the tour without giving anything, but we don't count them). That said, it is necessary that you bring your corresponding ticket, which does not imply that we are going to visit any monument, but simply that you have to bring it so that we can declare our taxes.

Additional information for the traveler:

Please confirm your attendance . Often, people make reservations but then don't show up for the tour, which means there aren't enough places available for people who are genuinely interested and makes the management, logistics, and planning more difficult for the guide. Therefore, please confirm if you will be joining the tour. If there is a reservation for only two people who haven't confirmed and don't respond, the guide will cancel the tour.

- The minimum number of people required for the tour is 6.

The tour can be done with a stroller, but it's much better and more comfortable to carry the little ones in a backpack, as there are stairs in some sections. You can leave strollers or your luggage at our office at Calle San Pedro 14, ground floor. The price is €1 per hour for strollers; please inquire about luggage rates.

- If bookings are made less than 5 hours in advance, the guide reserves the right to make the itinerary depending on whether or not the visit can be done.

- It is a tour that perfectly complements the "Daytime Wonder" or "Nighttime Spell" tour, as 100% of the content changes.
