Hi, I'm Sergio, a qualified tourist guide, as well as a senior technician in Guide and tourist assistance. I am very passionate about history. That is why I became a guide to be able to teach visitors the history of my city and that of the surrounding towns. I consider myself a fun person with whom you will not get bored on any of the tours. Greetings and I hope we meet soon !!!

About the Tour

Join me to get to know one of the most socially difficult periods in the history of Spain.
Through this tour I would like to show you why the war came and how Alcoy survived the ravages of the Civil War (1936-1939), despite being bombed up to 7 times.

On the tour we will visit places such as:

Swedish-Norwegian Hospital. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, during the war it served as a hospital (I will tell you its name during the tour), after the war it served as a prison.

Spain Square. Alcoyana life center since practically its foundation, a silent witness to the great events that have taken place in Alcoy over time.

C / San Nicolás. One of the most important streets of the city, in it we find different modernist buildings. In the tour you will discover what relationship it has with the war.
If you want to enter the entrance to the Industrial Circle are € 2.50 (to be paid at the entrance).

Ferrándiz and Carbonell factories. Built in 1922, these buildings currently house the headquarters of the University of Valencia in Alcoy. It is one of the highlights of the visit, why? I'll tell you about it during the tour.

Mount Piedad. Modernist building, current headquarters of the Valencian Institute of Modern Art. Former headquarters of the Alcoy savings bank. It has a peculiar history related to the contest.

Cervantes air raid shelter. Underground shelter built to protect the population from bombs, currently the only one open to the public (the entrance to the shelter is € 1.00 to be paid with a card at the entrance).

Alzamora shopping center. Nowadays it is a commercial center but formerly the Vizcaya 21 Infantry Regiment used to be on the site where it is located. Its curious history will bring us back to the present day.

  • You choose the price.
  • Comfortable footwear is recommended.
  • The entrance to the Industrial Circle and the Air Raid Shelter depend on their opening hours. However, the tour is the same regardless of the entrance or not to these monuments.
  • By regulation of the Industrial Circle society, entry with shorts or sleeveless shirts is not allowed.

What are you telling me, are you up for it?
Come and learn about the peculiar history of Alcoy that will not leave you indifferent.

Meeting point: Open in Google Maps

How to find me: I will be next to the monument to Ovidi Monllor that presides over the walk.
