Palma is a city that looks at the sea, that has lived, lives and will live from the sea. It is part of its essence and the maritime influence has been reflected in its history , architecture and legends of corsairs, pirates and sailors for centuries. Do you want to know them?
Come enjoy and get to know a little bit about this maritime Palma so unknown to many of us. We will talk about the different fishing neighborhoods of the city , the activity of the privateers, we will learn about some of the most illustrious and some of their stories. Our captain Antonio Barceló, quite possibly the most important navigator in the history of Mallorca. Privateer in his origins , becoming captain general of the Spanish navy.
Of course you will also discover curious stories about the merchants and their emblematic place, the Lonja de Mallorca built by Guillem Sagrera.
We cannot forget the fishermen. The most humble but absolutely transcendental activity in the seafaring history not only of Palma but also of all of Mallorca.
