Free Tour Mysteries and Legends of Budapest
Hello travelers! We are a group of guides happy to live and work in Budapest! With degrees in History of Art and Tourism. And after years of experience in the city, we have come up with the recipe for the perfect free tour: INGREDIENTS: -300 grams of history (just enough so that you don't get saturated) -150 grams of legends -several tablespoons of curiosities, gossip and news - "salt shaker" to the taste of the guide -A handful of tricks so that you learn to move around the city - A guide wanting to enjoy yourself - A motivated public PREPARATION: We start by adding the 300 grams of history, because every tour has to start with a good historical context. But immediately we add 150 grams of legends to the mixture in small doses and stir well until a well-homogeneous and balanced dough is left. Let it rest and add salt to taste until you start to hear a few laughs. That is the signal that tells you that the mix is on the right track. It is then the right time to add several spoonfuls of curiosities, gossip and current affairs, always at the request of the diner. All this is put in the oven for 2 and a half hours at maximum power. And to avoid that the dough does not drop, go adding tricks and recommendations. If the steps have been followed well, we assure you a good free tour. And if the recipe is also made in Budapest, success is guaranteed!
Tour description
Step into the unknown Budapest!
We will show you the hidden side of history while we enjoy the sunset on the banks of the Danube River. Under its bridges, legends, curses, and even vampires are hidden...
If you are one of those curious people who do not settle for just the "official version" of history, you cannot miss this Free tour!
ITINERARY :
🟢 We are waiting for you in the Erszébet square, next to the Ferris wheel , to begin our tour.
We will start by talking about the terrible curse of the Habsburgs . Tragedy haunted this royal family for centuries... What was the origin of it all?
🟢 Next to the impressive Four Seasons hotel , you will meet Bela Lugosi , the Hungarian actor who starred in the first Dracula in film history. Did you know that he slept in a coffin?
Although not only vampires are in fiction, does Vlad Tepes the impaler ring a bell? And the Bloody Countess ? You will hallucinate with these 2 characters.
🟢 We will go to the chain bridge , to enjoy the wonderful views of Buda Hill . There we will tell you the legend behind its construction.
🟢 We will walk along the riverbank until we reach "the little princess" A sculpture that, according to the myth, will give you luck! Although the best thing is the touching story that this character keeps.
🟢 Next to the Vigadó Palace, we will talk about "the cursed Hungarian song" and the misfortunes it brought to this city, will you dare to listen to it with us?...
🟢 We will stop at the March 15 square to tell you about some of the most notorious crimes in Hungary and that had international repercussions. Lovers of black novels are in luck!
🟢 Next to the Freedom Bridge and with Gellert Hill in the background we will talk about Hungarian popular folklore: shamanism, mythology and amazing rituals that continue to this day.
🟢 We will approach the church of the rock , excavated on the hill by an ancient congregation of ascetic monks, and to finish. Do you want to go up to see the incredible Statue of Liberty and the Citadel ? To the bravest, we will tell you how to do it.
