In this free tour, we want to share with you one of the most beautiful corners of the Eternal City; the iconic Trastevere neighborhood.
Like a village within a big city, this rione retains its essence, indifferent to the rhythms of the busier Rome. In this tour, you will therefore get to know the origins, tradition, and culture of one of the most authentic places that, for a long time, has resisted the arrival of tourists.
From the historic Ponte Sisto and crossing to the always bustling Piazza Trilussa, we will stroll through the alleys that have inspired so many great artists throughout history, to reach the Santa Apolonia square.
The via de la Lungaretta will take us to the in Piscinulla square, making a small stop at the famous “Casa de Dante”, where the writer stayed for a period of his life.
We will then arrive at the Santa Cecilia square and its homonymous church, and together we will discover what really happened to the “patroness of music.” A few steps from here is also the picturesque Mercaderes square, which will remind us of the important gastronomic tradition of this neighborhood.
We will continue through the streets of the more secluded Trastevere to find the church of San Francesco a Ripa, whose interior houses one of the most astonishing sculptures of the Baroque period.
We will end our walk on a high note, in the spectacular Santa Maria in Trastevere square, the neighborhood's nerve center and the hub of nightlife in this part of the city.
Without a doubt, this free tour will not leave you indifferent...
Will you join us?
