Flavors of Sarajevo – A Tasty Journey Through Culture and History
When you walk through Sarajevo, the smell of fresh bread, roasted meat, and coffee follows you at every step. But Sarajevo’s food isn’t just about taste—it’s a story of cultures, war, survival, and togetherness.
This is not a fancy food tour. It’s authentic, just like the city.
We’ll start at Baščaršija, tasting traditional burek, ćevapi, pita, homemade sweets and of course, Bosnian coffee. Along the way, I’ll tell you the stories behind each dish: how food kept people together during the siege, what the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian influences left on our table, and where locals really eat today.
What we’ll taste and explore:
- Buregdžinica – The best local pies (you’ll learn the difference between burek, sirnica, krompiruša)
- Ćevabdžinica – Bosnia’s famous ćevapi (with somun bread, of course)
- Sweet stop – Tufahija, baklava, or hurmašica – you choose!
- Bosnian coffee – Traditional preparation and tasting, with the full ritual
- Along the way: hidden corners, war stories, cultural landmarks
We’ll finish near Vijećnica (City Hall), full, happy, and with a better understanding of Sarajevo’s soul.
