Tour description

Sha Tau Kok is a newly reopened border town in Hong Kong’s North District, offering visitors a rare chance to explore a once-restricted area with rich history, scenic coastal views, and unique cultural experiences. Since its phased reopening in 2024, it has become a fascinating destination for half-day excursions.
What walkers will see and may experience:
* Viewing the blocked Chung Ying Street through the glass enclosure.  The geographical location of Chung Ying Street is of particular significance as it straddles the border because of past Sino-British history.
* Sha Tau Kok Pier: One of the longest piers in Hong Kong, offering panoramic views of Shenzhen across the Sha Tau Kok Sea.

* Historic Landmarks: Old temples and various buildings reflecting the town’s layered past.
* Lunch: Traditional Chinese-style restaurant with Hakka-style dishes (at visitors' cost).
* Local Markets & Shops: Traditional snacks, dried seafood, and handmade goods.

* Coastal walks are perfect for hiking and photography.
*** Remarks: Visitors to the Sha Tau Kok Frontier Closed Area must possess valid Closed Area Permits ("CAPs").  Visitors may ask the Guruwalk Guide at least 3 days before the visit for assistance with CAP applications (At the visitors' cost for an operation fee HKD100/EUR11/USD13 upon successful of application, and transportation fee to Sha Tau Kok is included).
At the tour end, each person contributes to the guide the amount they consider fair based on their satisfaction. As a guideline, Guruwalk recommends between €15 and $50 per participant.
