Free Walking Tour: Jerusalem's Old City, from Jaffa Gate to the Western Wall

Join me for a walk through Jerusalem's Old City, starting at Jaffa Gate and finishing at the Western Wall.

Jaffa Gate has been the main entrance into the city for centuries, and it's the perfect place to get our bearings before we step into the maze of lanes beyond it. From there we head down into the Jewish Quarter, rebuilt after 1967 but carrying layers of history that go back thousands of years.

We'll walk the Cardo, the old Roman and Byzantine main street, now lined with shops and mosaics. We'll see the Hurva Synagogue, destroyed and rebuilt more than once across the centuries, and the Broad Wall, part of the fortifications from the time of King Hezekiah.

Along the way I'll bring the Tanach to life, connecting the stones under our feet to the stories and people who shaped them. We finish at the Kotel, the Western Wall, the closest accessible point to where the Temple once stood and the beating heart of Jewish Jerusalem.

This walk works well for first time visitors, families, and anyone who wants Jerusalem's history to feel real rather than abstract.
