I joined a free walking tour with Eyal, and it was outstanding in every possible way. Eyal is an exceptionally intelligent guide whose knowledge goes far beyond the standard tour content. What truly sets him apart is the depth and breadth of his understanding history, politics, geography, society, and countless other topics. You can ask him literally anything that comes to mind, and his answers are consistently precise, nuanced, and impressively well informed. Equally remarkable is how he delivers this knowledge. Eyal has a very calm, composed presence and explains even complex subjects with great patience and clarity. There is no rush, no arrogance just a genuine passion for sharing insight and engaging in meaningful dialogue. The experience felt less like a typical walking tour and more like an intellectually stimulating conversation with someone who truly understands the place on multiple levels. At times, his ability to connect different topics and answer difficult questions so effortlessly was honestly breathtaking almost disorienting in the best possible way. Itâs rare to encounter a guide who is not only knowledgeable, but also reflective, thoughtful, and deeply engaging as a human being. If you are looking for more than just dates, landmarks, and anecdotes if you want a tour that challenges your thinking and leaves you genuinely enriched Eyal is the guide you should choose. Highly recommended.
Eial was absolutely incredible! He is very knowledgeable about the history of Haifa, and great at explaining everything in a way that kept me interested the whole time. I also learned a lot about culture and religions in Haifa. Eial was very kind and I definitely recommend his tour!
I highly recommend Dr. Eial Dujovnyâs Haifa Free Tour of Bahai Garden Overlook and Carmel Center. I didnât arrive to Eialâs tour by accident. I have been living in Haifa close to 20 years, and in the past, I have attended Eialâs lectures on Haifaâs history, but on this walk he was able to delight me with more information of which I was unaware. Eial trained as an anthropologist, and he is a guide licensed by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. He is a passionate educator and thrives when telling stories about our city and our country. Our small group met Eial early Friday afternoon on the Louis Promenade overlooking the spectacular vista including the gold domed BahĂĄâĂ Shrine of the Bab with its surrounding formal gardens, Haifaâs lower city with its boulevards, towers, houses, and businesses, the deep water port sporting its white and orange cranes serving container ships, Haifa Bay â congested by freighters that speckled the adjacent Mediterranean Sea, and a panorama extending beyond Akko (Acre) in the north toward the mountains of Lebanon which are visible to the eye when weather permits. Our walk was under two kilometers and included the promenade named after Louis Recanati, a stop outside the Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art, the Obelisk of the Kaiser commemorating the 1898 visit of German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Rutenberg House, Carmel Center, and the Haifa Auditorium. Eial wove a narrative of the city and the region dating from ancient times to the present. Ruling powers including Canaanites, Israelites, Hellenistic Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arab Caliphates, Fatimids, Crusaders, Saladinâs Ayyubids, Mamluks, Ottomans, British and Israelis who controlled the area. Todayâs residents form a mosaic of Jews, Druze, Sunni Muslims, a large variety of Christians, Bahaâis, and Ahmadis. Modern Haifa was heavily influenced by the German Templers (a 19th Century Protestant sect, not to be confused with the Crusade era Knights Templar). The city was liberated from the Ottoman Turks by the Jodhpur Lancers of the Indian Army cavalry during the First World War. Eial related all of these facts and more during the limited time available for the tour. If you want to see the cityâs magnificent views and learn about its multifaceted history, you canât go wrong with Eial as your guide.
Lived in Haifa for 45 years but discovered so much I never knew. Excellent tour.
Eial knows his city Haifa & his subject (historical/to present) with factual entertaining learning. Eial brings his city aliveâ for first-timers/visitors/tourists. He is a gem!
Eyal was an excellent tour guide with an in depth knowledge of Haifa and love for the city. He took me along the Louis Promenade to the Baha'i Garden overlook and Carmel Center. Though I am Israeli and have been here in Haifa countless times, he showed me sides of the city that I had never experienced before. I originally was scheduled to tour on Friday, but due to strong rains during the day I did the tour on Saturday instead. Eyal was really flexible and accommodating under the circumstances. I was surprised to be the only guest, but Eyal was gracious and I had a wonderful private tour in the end.
Eyal was great. In walking a short distance (in my own neighborhood) we traversed thousands of years of history, and learned about the tangled web of geopolitics. I gained new insights about my beloved city.
Eyal's encyclopedic knowledge of Haifa's history beings a depth that few tours can match. The personal histories of the players intertwined with the local and geopolitical happenings brings an appreciation of the views and buildings that is really exceptional.
Eial was an amazing tour guide! Friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate, he made the tour fun and informative from start to finish. His stories and local insights brought everything to life.
Truly a unique experience. If you are looking for an intriguing, personal and deep dive into the history of the city this is the tour for you. As a Haifa resident myself I was surprised about how much I had to learn about my own city. To put it simply, charming, well thoughtout and researched, casual walking and sprinkled with first hand stories, would definitely recommend.
I enjoyed the tour, Eial was very interesting and full of knowledge. Looking forward to our next tour with Eial
Meine unbedingte Empfehlung. Schade, dass es nur fĂŒnf Sterne gibt.
Eial is amazing, full of knowledge and very comprehensive explanation. The tour allows you to learn about history and appreciate some of the most important places in Haifa. Highly recommended đđŒ
