Tour description

Did you know about an hour from NYC you can capture the raw power of New Jersey's tallest waterfall while soaking in the spiritual energy of the outdoors?

We arrange ride shares if you need (rideshare contribution to drivers are typically $20 if you need a ride) otherwise you can just meet us at the start of our day hike. Joining the trip is completely free and we gladly accept donations.

Some trips are public transportation accessible although this one has none that travel to this hard to find and hidden gem of a

location. Departure from NYC is approx. 8:00AM. Rain cancels. As this requires rideshares and drivers meeting at a start location we need to communicate with you all updates for this trip.

This day hike starts at Buttermilk Falls, the tallest waterfall in NJ (you be the judge). If we time it just right it will be a beautiful sight. We begin at the base of the falls and hike up alongside the falls up to the Appalachian Trail.

A beautiful diverse area and very quiet as it does not attract many hikers as it is difficult to locate and is away from any public transit in the Delaware Water Gap, in NJ.

Date: Saturday, April 21, 2018

Hike Time: 9:30AM to ~ 5:00PM

Mileage: 7.5 Miles

Gain: Approx. 1,300'+

Environment: All trail except along waterfall (wooden staircase)

Apres hike stop (we located a fantastic place nearby we will swing by after hike)

No park fee

Local hikes run about every two weeks, and regional multi-day car trips such as to Acadia NP, Niagara Falls, the White Mountains, etc occur either around July 4th or during Fall Foliage. Away trips such as to China, Alaska, Canadian Rockies, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc. are occur once a year.

For over 20+ years I've led groups to some of the most memorable adventures in the area. The local events are 100% free if you apply the discount code to waive the online processing fee. They are funded by voluntary contribution - either pay nothing or feel the love and contribute what you feel it was worth.

A sampling of some areas our day hikes take place are Mohonk, Breakneck, Delaware Water Gap, Bear Mountain, Harriman, and more. We also do regional multi-day drive trips to areas like Acadia National Park, Niagara Falls, Quebec City, the White Mountains, Washington DC; including away trips to China, Alaska, Canadian Rockies, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and beyond (multi-day away trips do have a charge to join).
