Essential Free walking tours of Addis Ababa

Had the pleasure of having Getachew show me around Addis. Great guide. Tour took 6 hours and we went everywhere. Lots of walking; local bus and taxi. A great overview of life here. I highly recommend Getachew.

If you’re looking for a chill, personalized experience that’s totally different from the usual crowded, touristy stuff, you’ve got to go with him. He showed us the real Ethiopia -- amazing food, hidden cultural gems, and a glimpse into everyday life that you just won’t get on a big, commercial tour. Getachew (Gaetano per gli italiani 😂) è stato veramente bravo, ci ha fatto girare tutta la città in un solo pomeriggio, dandoci spiegazioni esaurienti e piene di dettagli “locali”, rispondendo volentieri a tutte le nostre domande. Undoubtedly one of the best walking tours I have done! Getachew is very friendly, knowledgeable and flexible to adapt the schedule and itinerary to our needs. For example, I had more free time and our tour ended up being a full day tour across the city, visiting local places! He is very enthusiastic and attentive, and I was feeling safe throughout the day at all places. Most definitely recommend!!

My tour with Geta was the best I've ever done through Guruwalk! He was extremely attentive, taking good care of the group and providing all the information we wanted to know about the history of Addis and the places we visited. Some colleagues and me did a tour with Guruwalk and we reached out to Getachew, who was very spontaneous about it and flexible about our requirements. Unfortunately we couldnt go through the complete tour because the flight was quite long and we needed to get some rest, however, I think that the time with our guide was quite interesting and he has good insides into Addis. I would recommend him :D

The tour was great: the coffee tasting, the restaurant with local food, the market visit, all of it! We would not be able to see those places on our own. If you are looking for a truly authentic experience, I definitely recommend taking this tour!

With a last minute day layover in Addis due to a missed connecting flight, I hadn’t done any research on the country. I booked a very last minute tour with Kenaw who was responsive & helpful in working out the best itinerary for me. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe & well looked after. The tour was so informative, with lots of cultural & historic context provided. Given his GuruWalk tours make up a significant portion of his income, Kenaw is extremely punctual & professional, but also intentional & thoughtful to ensure his guests have the best possible time. Highly recommend.
