Simona is an AMAZING tour guide. So much fun, informative and really brought the city to life. Many interesting things that she pointed out that you would never know was there and the tour felt very well paced. I’d definitely recommend a walking tour with Simona to find out about the city particularly little things that when you see again you’ll know more about the history and context. Will definitely do this again :-)

You meet Giovanna under the clock of Brignole train station clock - the clock is not inside the station but at the very top of the building. We failed to see it but Giovanna communicated well on the messaging service. The first stop of Mussolini's piazza was very interesting, an area of Genoa we had not been to before, and perhaps more time could have been spent here. The walking tour from where we got off the bus to the final point in Boccadasse was very interesting and Giovanna spoke to us four learners of Italian in slow italian, as requested, and we understood virtually everything I believe. I wasn't very comfortable walking at the back of the church with a funeral going on but other than that the tour was very interesting. It is a completely different area to the historic part of Genoa where we had taken another Guru walk two days earlier. It was good to explore the area. We walked back to Genoa on the prom after the tour had finished.

Giovanna was a fantastic guide. She was quite aware and enthusiastic to show hidden gems of Boccadasse, while sharing stories about them. Happy to have known her and have spent some nice informal time after the tour as well

I really liked the fact that she has shown us not only the sights but also the tastes of Genova. We felt that Simona is not only a guide, but also a friend who invites us to her city - she was very helpful with practical advice how to get a full Genova experience not only during the walk, but also afterwards.

This was a fantastic walk through old Genoa with Simona. This guide is a real professional and a great personality who truly loves her city and gives you a true local flavour of the place that makes you hungry for more. We loved Simona as much as she loves her city. It was a truly fascinating experience for almost 3 hours and we were excited all the way through!! Thank YOU 👏

Best things to do and see in Genoa

The city of Genoa is located on the northern coast of Italy and is the capital of the Ligurian region. His past has always been bathed by stories linked to the sea. If you go walking through its streets, you realize the cultural background that its buildings have always in keeping with the Mediterranean tradition. One of the advantages it has geographically is that it is quite close to cities such as Turin or Milan.

Not being an excessively large locality, it is easy to get to visit the most representative places in 1-2 days. An original way to do it is to choose one of the free walking tours in Genoa, which are free guided tours that would allow you to get to know the Acquario di Genova, the Cathedral of Genoa, the Piazza De Ferrari, the house of Christopher Columbus, Strade Nuove, the Galata Museum of the Mare, Porto Antico, the Parco naturale regionale del Beigua or the Oriental Market.

You can learn more about the guided tours in Genoa by reading the opinions of other tourists who have already enjoyed this experience. Some walkers have also gone to visit other cities such as Rome, Florence or Naples.
