Asian Side of Istanbul Free Tour

Really recommended. A great introduction to the area and a lovely guide

Excellent experience. We were so well entertained! I didn’t want the tour to end! Learnt lots about Istanbul’s history and culture.

The guide was knowledgeable but I found him aloof. He also commented as away of welcome that I cancelled and re-booked the tour a couple of times which I found a very passive aggressive way of interacting with a guest. (I was trying to better fit my itinerary and had to rearrange the tours ). Guruwalk guidelines do allow me to cancel so I was not doing anything wrong? So why that comment? He was also very causal about whether the group is following him or not. He also commented about our financial status as we had joined a 'free tour" Despite all this, the tour was enjoyable because the guru had interesting facts and stories. Just the attitude left a bad taste.

Great walking tour of the Asian side learning about the different foods. We got to sample some of the foods and returned to some of the places later on after the tour. Ferhat gave lots of historical information and was knowledgeable and gave us suggestions on what else to do around the Asian side.

Our guruwalk and our guru, Haktan was perfect. While we had visited some of the sites that was part of our walk, Haktan added so much more, bringing his knowledge, wit, and unique insights to each place we visited. He is deeply knowlegeable about Istanbul (and presumably many other things) and it's culture and history. We've always enjoyed our guruwalks, but when you have a guru like Haktan, the experience is truly memorable.

We started the tour with Haktan as strangers and left as friends. He was fun and entertaining with an excellent sense of humor. He gave some very useful information that wasn’t only historical but practical, by giving us tips and information for our stay in Istanbul. Most importantly we laughed a lot.

Had a great time on this tour. Haktan is a great guide: funny, informative and goes with the flow. He paid for our ferry over, which is above and beyond. We lunched at one of his suggestions, after the tour and it was fab. Tip him big!

Istanbul ist eine unglaubliche Stadt. Es macht besonders viel Freude diese Stadt mit einem so eloquenten und informierten Führer kennen zu lernen. Hagen spricht ein perfektes Englisch. Mithilfe der Mikros hat er auch die gesamte Gruppe jederzeit gut erreicht. Wir können diese Tour nur dringend empfehlen und werden in Zukunft immer versuchen weitere Touren mit Hakan zu unternehmen.
