I am an Italian-Chilean journalist based in Parma, Italy. I have published a series of culinary books such as Patagonia Gastronomy, Chilean Poetic Cuisine and Valparaíso Gastronomy. Since 2019 I have lived in Parma, a beautiful city where I have developed this free tour that runs through its main attractions, with special emphasis on its rich gastronomic culture.

Tour description

On this culinary walking tour I will show you the most pleasant corners of this ducal city of exquisite beauty. We will travel through the historic center visiting the places that show us the most authentic expressions of the cuisine of this place recognized as the Capital of the Italian Food Valley. In the tour I will tell you about the history and present of Parma and how it is intertwined with the culture of food. We will also learn more about the famous Parma Ham, Culatello and obviously Parmigiano Reggiano, all these gastronomic excellences with the protected brand. I will also tell you about the Parma restaurants and their particular menu. Along the way you will learn more about the variety of sparkling Parma wines such as Malvasia and Lambrusco, as well as Balsamic Vinegar. During this tour, the typical pasta known as anolini, horse meat, pizza, sandwiches, coffee and artisanal ice cream made with fresh Parmesan milk will also be very important. Local entrepreneurship is also very strong in Parma and for this reason we will visit a small perfume museum where the famous "Violeta di Parma" stands out. This tour is not recommended for minors.
