Tour description

Do you want to know what no one has told us? Discover history from the Soviet perspective and understand the origins of the division of Berlin, Germany and Europe?
This is your Tour!

A visit to the Treptowerpark Soviet Memorial is a journey into Berlin's Soviet past. An opportunity for art and history lovers who want to discover spaces in the city far from the most commercial tours. We will learn about the history and symbolism of the most impressive monument of the Soviet footprint in Berlin. The largest anti-fascist monument in Europe and the largest military cemetery in Germany , where Soviet soldiers who fell in the Battle of Berlin are honored. A trip to the city's past, to the battle that ended the Second World War and the lives of 80,000 red soldiers.

A monumental example to also learn about Socialist Realism, the official propaganda art imposed in the Eastern Bloc until the end of the Cold War.
Architecture, sculpture and landscaping at the service of the great ideals of Communism, the ideology that marked the lives of Berliners and half the world for 45 years.

We will continue the tour to the banks of the Spree River, with visits to the gentrified Berlin of the 21st century, an unequivocal reflection of the defeat of the great socialist project.

Some tour content:

  • Treptower Park and the workers' struggle.
  • The Battle of Berlin and the end of the war.
  • The Great Patriotic War or the Soviet account of history.
  • Stalinism and art; artists as engineers of the soul.
  • Nazis vs. Reds; the ideological war.
  • Communism; the new Religion.
  • Lebensraum; Hitler's plans in Eastern Europe.
  • Cannon fodder; soldiers as heroes.
  • Violations and abuses against the civilian population.
  • Military cemeteries and the political use of pain.
  • Life in East Berlin.
  • Berlin 21st century. Neither poor nor sexy. The defeat of Socialism.
  • Cultural and leisure recommendations.

*The Tours will be carried out with a minimum of 5 people and a maximum of ten. If the group is smaller, I will contact you directly to let you know and try to agree on another date.

*Given that I do the tour with small groups, with the aim of making it more participatory, and that I pay a fee per tourist, it is profitable for me to do it starting at €10 per person. I thank you in advance for taking this into account when making payment. Thank you so much
