Free Tour Art of Valladolid: museums and much more.
Hi, I´m Natalia; I studied History of Art but my passion is to travel. I´ve been living in Valladolid almost my whole life so this is my first palce to visit!
Tour description
Valladolid, Spain, has different and varied museums, such as contemporary art such as the Patio Herreriano, classical sculpture such as the National Sculpture Museum and other smaller but very interesting ones. They are all in historical and central buildings and this will mean that, at the same time that we discover them, we will discover the streets, the very history of the city and its cultural heritage. On this tour we will not have time to enter the museums and rooms that we will discover, but you will be able to choose which one to return to with time to visit it. From the meeting point, we will go down the commercial Santiago street to the Plaza Mayor, discovering the first art room of the tour in it. Also located in a convent, in this case of nuns; the second exhibition hall in the city is located in one of the streets that lead to the Plaza Mayor and is inside another religious building, a church; then we will arrive at the extramural enclave (we will see the remains of the wall) of the imposing monastery of San Benito that houses the current Patio Herreriano museum. From there we will arrive through the streets of the historic center of the city to a new convent, that of San Pablo, which has as precious a decoration as it is not fortified compared to the previous one and which houses the National Museum of Sculpture, a jewel inside another. We will finish in one of the few municipal halls that are located in a civil building, an old medieval palace, since the visit ends right in the oldest part of the city, in the church of Santa María de la Antigua, next to which he built the current cathedral of the city and the University, around which the busiest streets of terraces, bars and restaurants of Valladolid are located.
