TAPAS AND WINE TOUR
Tour description
TAPAS AND WINE TOUR Do you know tapas’ history? It is said that King Alfonso X, called the Wise, established that wine could not be served in taverns if it was not accompanied by food, to avoid that wine went quickly to people’s head. The food was served in a small plate that they put above a glass or a jug to cover the recipient, and to prevent any fly or other insects from getting into that valued drink. Since then, moving from tavern to tavern or from bar to bar, drinking different wines, eating different tapas, and meeting with friends has become very traditional and funny in Spain. They take it as a snack or as a meal itself, and this activity not only allows you to taste specialities of each region, but also to know and explore different neighbourhoods or historic centres of Spanish cities. Calpeapie has designed these tapas tours through different bars in Calp in order to enjoy our gastronomy and to gain an insight into our culture. Our specialised guides will lead you through some interesting places that are now part of the historic centre of each city in a walking tour. Then you will visit some of the most important monuments, but especially, you will taste the most characteristic specialities of each city in bars or taverns that are full of tradition, history, or are renown. Those are where Spanish people usually go running away from the crowded tourist places.
