Hi, my name is Lucas, I am a tour guide since 2010, worked in more than 20 countries. Based in Bangkok - or Manila, Phnom Penh, Montréal, Kathmandu - I follow the current of the guiding ! I am doing those walking tour now, trying to share my knowledge with first time visitors. As I am doing this without salary, tip is well appreciated, Guru guidelines suggest min 10€ or 300 Bath. I can answer all questions and show you some hidden / out of the beaten path places. If you want to see and do tourist stuff like floating market, my walks are not for you. I like to show you the normal life that is going on here in Bangkok, while I will help you with local transportation and others places to visit. With me you are walking to see things of the daily life, to feel the vibe as the local way. If you just want to know about tourist stuff, its easy by your own. With me its more about to learn/walk as the Bangkonian style.
From gigantic MBK shopping center to local taxi boat and to historical Ratchadamnoen street, we walk across daily life of the Bangkonian.
Starting at MBK downtown, we learn about Sky train system and then walk to Hua Chang pier to catch taxi boat (12 Bath), on our way to Golden Mount and the famous Ratchadamnoen street with the democracy monument.
* You guys can go up to the top of Golden Mount for a beautiful view over the city, it’s 100 Bath/person.
Then we will walk through some small alleys to talk about daily life.
We end up at Khao San Road. Good place to crack a beer at the end of the day.
This is not a spectacular walk, if you fancy tourist stuff, this walk is not for you. We will be walking and using local transport as the Bangkonian does. This walk is good if you just arrived in Bangkok as we talk and use local transportation.
If you want to feel the vibe of the daily life here, come on down !
MBK center, outside (on the platform near by the dog/cat/rabbit statue. See photo as reference. (BTS National Stadium). I am easy to spot with my many tattoos 😀
We meet here, near the white statue of the strange animal (mix dog/cat/rabbit), its on the platform, not on street level.
This is where we catch the taxi boat, it’s 12 Bath per person.
One of the two remaining fort along the old island of Rattanakhosin era.
From the Ayutthaya era, this huge Buddhist temple has become an iconing landmark in Bangkok.
Splendid temple complex, recently renovated, knows for its 37 iron spires.
Commissioned in 1939 to commemorate the 1932 Siamese coup d'état which led to a constitutional monarchy, its symbolized the modernity of Thailand.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
