Free Tour of the Jewish Quarter, the Holocaust, and World War II in Amsterdam – Memory, Resistance, and Reality
Join us on a deeply moving tour through one of the darkest periods in Amsterdam's history. This tour is dedicated to understanding how the city experienced the Nazi occupation, the devastating impact on the Jewish community, and the acts of bravery —but also betrayal— that marked those years.
During the tour, we will visit important memorials and historical sites where you will learn about:
* The history of the Jewish Quarter and its significance in the cultural life of the city.
* The deportations, persecution, and living conditions during the occupation.
* The human stories behind the Holocaust in Amsterdam
* The role of the Dutch resistance, as well as the existence of collaborators and the degree of collaboration from the population.
* The figure of Anne Frank and her connection to the city (although her house is not visited, as it is located on the other side of the historic center).
This tour is an opportunity to reflect, understand, and keep alive the memory of those who suffered, resisted… and also of those who made difficult decisions in extreme times.
